We at the Hotel, Motel, Holiday Inn…

The hotel industry seems like a party for CEOs, while housekeepers are stuck cleaning up for chump change. The industry is projected to reach $1.27 trillion by 2031, but some workers wouldn't know it.

Industry CEOs see record-breaking compensation packages of major hotel chains. For example, Hilton CEO Christopher Nassetta reportedly took home a whopping $56.8 million in 2023.

  • Meanwhile MGM Resorts CEO, Bill Hornbuckle is living large! He rakes in over a million bucks per property, as MGM only manages a 31 properties globally. His compensation was around $38 million.

  • Meanwhile, Hilton's got more hotels than there are days in a year (7,500 globally). Guess they can't afford to pay their CEO a cool $7.5 billion for running that empire.

🥊🏆 Hilton and Marriott are fiercely competing in the hotel industry. Hilton is aggressively acquiring brands, while Marriott focuses on renovating existing properties instead of constructing new ones.

🤔 📈 Despite the record growth, hotels are understaffed by about 225,000 workers compared to pre-pandemic levels.  While the situation is improving, they are still struggling to fill open positions.

👀 🏨 Curious about who dominates the hotel industry? Look to the hospitality giants. Choice Hotels (Cambia, Comfort, etc.), Hilton (Waldorf Astoria, Hampton, etc.), Marriott (Ritz-Carlton, Courtyard, etc.), Wyndham (La Quinta, Super 8, etc.), and IHG (Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, etc.)

  • Although Marriott runs supreme controlling over 30 brands.

  • 🌆 💰Speaking of Vegas, the Fontainebleau cost $3 billion to construct and is the tallest hotel in the city. It boasts 3,644 rooms, 7 pools, and a whopping 36 restaurants.

ICYMI

💬 ICYMI… Quick travel news & updates for your weary, jet-lagged mind. Boeing and airlines continue to dominant headlines.

One thing's for sure, turbulence is rocking the aviation industry.

  • 🛫 Boeing telling employees to shut up! The aviation giant is weathering a storm of safety concerns. Recent Senate hearings, with a whistleblower alleges problems with the 787 and 777 models. Boeing disputes these claims. (Hey Boeing, can you get your sh%t together, sincerely everyone who flys)

  • 🔧 Is this solely a Boeing issue? Not exactly. Airline mechanics are under fire for their lax safety practices. Alaska Air was recently grounded by the FAA due to a technical glitch. Despite this, Delta's CEO, while expressing confidence in Boeing, recognizes the necessity for production process enhancements.

  • 🌧️ Dubai faced flooding, mainly due to heavy rain, but there's uncertainty about the cause. The airport CEO denied cloud seeding, but mentioned “we’ve never seen anything like this.” The deluge, equivalent to a year and a half of rain in 24 hours, overwhelmed infrastructure, causing chaos citywide.

Hey Boeing, can you guys stay outta news please! Subscriber Bernie already has a fear of flying and her new saying is: “If it’s a Boeing, We ain’t going…”

But….when Bernie flys, she uses 👇️
