Another Devastating Rain Storm Has Slammed South Florida

Roads flooded, Interstate 95 shut down and hundreds of flight canceled. South Florida was slammed by a catastrophic flood after 21+ inches of rain fell in 48 hours. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to declare a state of emergency across many counties. Last April Fort Lauderdale was struck with a 1-in-1,000 year flooding event.

The National Weather Service issued its highest "high risk" warning for flash flooding. With over 8 million under flood alerts, officials urge avoiding all travel as the region braces for more catastrophic impacts and eventual cleanup.

🌧️ North Miami and Hallandale Beach received over 20 inches of rain, while Miami Beach saw over one foot of rain.

📈 Fort Myers broke rainfall records! A single day saw a record-breaking 5.44 inches, surpassing both the high of (3.86") and the city's all-time record (2.14" set in 2008).

🐊 Risk of wildlife: Authorities warn that alligators and other wildlife may become more visible in flooded areas.

🏒 Florida Panthers downplayed their travel delay and late arrival in Edmonton for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Governor Ron DeSantis: and his administration have taken a firm stance against attributing the recent record-breaking rainfall and floods to climate change.

The Paris Summer Olympics are expected to draw over 15 million visitors to the city.

The city estimates travelers will spend $2.75 billion. Instead of building new venues, Paris is transforming iconic landmarks like the Grand Palais, Place de la Concorde, and even the Seine River itself into unique event locations.

🏊‍♂️ $1.5 billion was invested to clean the Seine River for open-water swim events, but protestors plan to poop in protest. “Looks like some people are determined to make a different kind of splash!"💩

Opening Ceremony: kicks off on Friday, July 26th at 8:24pm local Paris time (that's 2:24pm on the east coast).

Has tipping culture reached its tipping point?

With pre-entered tip suggestions of 20-30% now common, over a third of us find these omnipresent tip screens annoying. “Remember, just because the screen suggests it doesn't mean your wallet agrees!"

  • 🍽️ While 67% of us always tip sit-down servers back home, that rate drops overseas where tipping is less customary.

In Europe, a 10% tip is sufficient for good restaurant service. Africa and Latin America expect 10-15%. Australia and New Zealand typically just require rounding up the bill. However, tipping is unexpected and may even be considered rude in Asia, especially China and Japan.

Over 35% of Americans believe the tipping culture in the U.S. has gotten out of control.

Why it matters: Knowing tipping customs for your destination prevents awkwardness and helps budget properly. When unsure, ask locals for tipping guidance to avoid overspending.

Cruise lines follow airlines in being forced to disclose junk fees.

Cruise lines are finally being forced to come clean on pricing starting July 1st! No more baiting low cruise rates from the big lines. Royal Caribbean and Carnival will now show full, honest pricing upfront nationwide. “At last, cruise prices clearer than Caribbean waters”.

  • The cruise companies claim it's all about simplicity for us customers. But let's be real, they're really just trying to avoid California's wrath over shady fee practices.

About Time: No more guessing games or shock at checkout - you'll see taxes and all those pesky "junk fees" included from the jump.
